Less than an hour from Ljubljana, Lake Bled sits in the foothills of the Julian Alps. It is practically a stone’s throw from Austria.

I expected the cake to be ‘famous’ in the way that Aplets and Cotlets are famous – most people don’t like it but they eat it out of tradition and to experience something local. I’m not a big dessert eater and neither is my dad, but we both thought the cake was excellent. Very rich, but also delicate.
